One Year Anniversary

June 20 will be our 1st wedding anniversary! As you may know, our wedding color was Jade.
I made this card for my husband.
I used Paper Pups, distressed stripes CB emboss, a border emboss (with stickles on the dots & inked the edges)
On the inside I used Plantin with & without the shadow (using the same colors as on the front)
I'm also very excited because I used up some more scraps! I need to get rid of my scrap pile!! :)

BBTB Challenge - Pillow Box

Okay - here it is! I finally got to do one of Regina's BBTB Challenges! I had been waiting around for a cartridge that I actually have! I was thinking of what I could do to make this one unique (as it is my first). I saw my gingham ribbon! I was Dorothy for a Halloween party for work and this was the ribbon I used for my hair. I thought, this is perfect! I absolutely love Wizard of Oz!

How I did it:
  • Pillow box is cut at 8"
  • I used CDS to make the spirals another cut with an outline in Green.I ran this piece through my Zyron upside down. When I flipped it over, I dusted it with ultra fine white glitter. Afterwards, I realized I should've used green glitter (something I would have had to make a trip to M's for...darn, haha) But hindsight is 20/20, eh?
  • Then, using CDS again, I used the cut that would have made the ouline for the window, hid a contour line, squished the square into a "brick" size! Yes, each of the yellow bricks are individually cut & pasted! Wowee!
  • It took me forever to figure out my ruby slippers. I used PDDU for the shoes, but in CDS I squished them too! Once cut, I trimmed them so it didn't look too puffy. I used my Star Dust Stickles to make them shine! Again, should have gone to the store for red Stickles, huh?
  • Now, for Toto....I used the Scottie cut from Paper Pups. Yes, I know Toto wasn't a Scottie, he was a Cairn Terrier...but who's gonna complain? :) I used my gel pen to make him have gray hairs.
  • I cut the tag & shadow from Plantin to make my tag. With red glitter gel pen I wrote There's No Place Like Home. With some doodling on the corners.
  • Then I did white 'stitching' on the pillow box.I tied my gingham ribbon & voila! Presto! I love it!

Thank you so much for looking! I'm so excited to be able to enter into a BBTB challenge!!!
I had so much fun with this!
Here is a picture of the crew at the Halloween party - for fun!

Sympathies

My mom's oldest dog passed about a week ago. I felt I needed to make her a card. Maddie was a rescue puppy and about 8 years old when we got her. A couple years later, we found a lump on her chest, took her to the vet & had it removed...breast cancer. About a year later, we had to have it removed again because it had come back with avengence.
We thought we had it all....Nope. It had been spreading throughout her insides all this time. One day, my mom came home from work to find Maddie struggling to breath. She took her to the 24hr vet & they took x-rays finding it all. It had mets around her trachea (causing the problems). Surgery would kill her, she was already 12. Instead of torturing her through the pain of surgery, we had to put her down.
We all have so many memories of Maddie, hence some things on the inside might not make perfect sense. But I love it and can't wait to hear what she thinks of it.

Tree: Happily Ever After
Birds: Animal Kingdom
Puppy: Paper Pups (also cut the wings/halo off another dog & attached here) and I pop-dotted the pup so it looked like she was standing on the cloud.
Cotton ball for the clouds (don't know if you can tell or not, I lightly sprayed adhesive on the cotton & sprinkled on some clear/white glitter)
Stickles on the wings/halo & flowers (lavender & star dust)
Tag: Plantin
Tag Emboss: QuickKutz flourish through the CB

Waterfall Birthday

I am so unbelievably excited about these! I saw an awesome YouTube video on how to make waterfall cards! So even though it was the wee hours of the morning, I thought I must give this a shot.

This first one I did make the mistake of gluing the pull side to the top of the card...hence the stamped cover up! This made the pull strip weaker to be pushed up to the starting position.

But I must say it is pretty cool for my first try!

Happy Birthday is from Paper Pups cart

I CB "spots & dots" to the horizontal strip

Stamps are Stampabilities (square) & Studio G in ColorBox "warm violet."

I also just got into embossing (loads of fun!) The stamps, and tops of the CB strip are embossed in clear.

Thanks for looking!
